Happy sunny Sunday, GR! What better way to help you enjoy a nice Sunday that reading about one of the newest and best restaurants to strike the GR scene; especially when you have a whole week ahead of you to take advantage of it! You may have noticed the Downtown Market looks a bit different – upgraded, we’ll say – that walled off section has finally transformed into the very beautiful, Social Kitchen & Bar Grand Rapids.
The restaurant has been up and running since mid-April and has really amped up the front area of the market. It’s also super convenient for those of us wanting to stay past the shop closings (7pm) and would like a little variety in our restaurant options.
Social currently has one other location located in Birmingham, MI but is branched under Peas & Carrots Hospitality (which currently has 7 restaurants in total) and this level of experience definitely shows through the look, feel and most significantly – taste of the restaurant. The service is damn good too!
Something I found really interesting about the GR location, is Social’s commitment to our community, values and what us Grand Rapidians find important – keeping it local. Social plans on incorporating as much locality as possible; from using local product from purveyors in the market (like Field & Fire bread and Sweetie-licious) and expanding on their restaurant concept to offer more options and popular menu item choices.
I enjoyed dinner at Social a couple weeks ago and I was definitely impressed. Below are some of the menu choices that I tried and I would recommend every single one of them!
Social offers an unrivaled happy hour deal – 1/2 off EVERYTHING Mon – Friday from 3-6pm (bar area only). If this isn’t enough (which is crazy – cause it’s insane in the best way), check out their BYO (build your own) Bloody Mary Bar during Brunch hours on Sunday!
Social’s motto is, “Relentless Hospitality” and I can confirm they hold up to this during service. Who wouldn’t want to dine at a place that serves refined comfort food (not to mention – mini cornbread muffins in between courses!) and offers so many diverse options for everyone. Check out their menu here and their hours are below:
Social Kitchen & Bar GR Hours:
Lunch: Mon-Fri, 11-3
Brunch: Sat,Sun 10-3
Dinner: Sun-Tues 4-9, Weds-Thurs 4-10, Fri-Sat 4-11
A huge thank you to Social and the General Manager, Sherie for having me out for dinner service – I definitely plan on dining here often. Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself – perhaps on their outdoor patio with the warmer weather arriving this week? 😉
